So many books, so little time.
-Frank Zappa
For every book read, an obscene number of new books have been published. Instead of being disheartened we are inspired by the imagination and creativity that infuses our world. However, the library of books is large and long and shuffling through its shelves takes a long time. So we thought to help you wade those deep and crowded shelves, we’d offer our honest opinions on the books that find their way into our hands. Our hope is our words can help spread the joy of good books and allow the time we dedicate to books to be dedicated to ones worthy of our precious spare time. Our interests spread many genres and range from archaic classics to the contemporary novel. If you have recommendations or review requests please leave them in the comments!
We will rate our books on a 1-5 system:
1=Not worthy of the time it took complete and the paper it’s printed on. (Coming from people who believe in the power of words and the beauty of books)
2=It had the potential for greatness, but the execution was completely lacking.
3= Enjoyable and adequately composed, but it inspired no urge to compose sonnets.
4= I liked it…a lot. This author has extremely talented. However, maybe the characters suffered due to plot or plot due to characters, but it just missed that life change quality.
5=I will probably re-read this book, despite the large stack of books I should be getting to. This book was like mana from heaven, beautifully written, characters I will never forget and a plot that was both intriguing and suitable to the story.
A room without books is like a body without a soul.
-Marcus Tullius Cicero
